"My family, my responsibility" campaign is crucial weapon in fight against COVID-19: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray Self-defense is the simple solution to fight the Coronavirus

          The "My Family, My Responsibility" campaign will be a crucial weapon to convince the people of the importance of self-defense, said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He was speaking during an online interaction with people's representatives attached to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and other civic establishments located in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) between Mumbai and Pune, extending right upto Raigad district.

          Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, Thane Mayor Naresh Mhaske, Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Ajoy Mehta, Principal Secretary Health Dr. Pradeep Vyas, Principal Secretary Urban Development Mahesh Pathak, Director of National Health Mission Dr. N. Ramaswamy, Thane Municipal Commissioner Bipin Sharma along with Mumbai Municipal Corporation Municipal Corporation commissioner, Chief Officer and other civic officials also participated in the discussion.

          The Chief Minister further said that the campaign 'My Family, My Responsibility' will be implemented in the state from September 152020. "Every citizen will be contacted and their medical status vis-a-vis COVID-19verified through this campaign. Awareness will also be raised about care to be taken while combating Corona. It is equally important to break the virus' chain even as we embark upon improving and normalising public life in the state. For this, we have to learn to live with Corona and make suitable changes in our lifestyle. It is important to create awareness among the people on these aspects. This campaign is crucial and an important component in this war against COVID-19 and for this to succeed people's representatives and the administration seeks to reach out to every citizen of the state. There should be no indifference in working to achieve this goal that will prove to be the turning point in each societal stakeholder's life as also to prepare people for similar epidemics in the future," the Chief Minister said.

          On this occasion, Urban Development Minister Mr. Shinde said, "My family, my responsibility is the last necessary blow against the virus in the war effort launched to exile  Corona (from Maharashtra). The campaign will reach out to every family and emphasize the importance of self-defense measures in the fight against corona. The government has set up the necessary health facilities to protect against corona. We are seeking to break the Corona chain through peoples' participation. This public outreach campaign is being implemented as a part of the strategy."

          Shinde further noted that the success of the campaign would provide a model for other states to emulate."Within a month, the spread of Corona can be brought under control in areas where the campaign will be successfully carried out across Maharashtra," said Ajoy Mehta, Principal Adviser to the Chief Minister. Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar expressed confidence that the model developed through this scheme would be a guide in the fight against communicable diseases in the near future also. Pradip Vyas, Principal Secretary, Department of Health, gave a brief outline of the implementation of the scheme.
