Registration of 3.96 lakhs handicapped voters in the state Most in Pune district; lowest in the Hingoli district - Dilip Shinde, Additional Chief Electoral Officer

Mumbai,(timenewsline network): Total 3, 96, 673 handicapped voters have registered their names for the assembly elections in the state. Instructions for providing special facilities for voters with disabilities at polling booths informed Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dilip Shinde.

He further stated that Pune district has recorded 67,279 handicaps which is the highest in the state. Following this, 24,197 disable voters are in Kolhapur district while 21,742 are in Sangli. Lowest number of handicapped voters 2329 are in Hingoli district.

Facility of wheelchairs at the polling booths should be provided as handicapped people should not face any problem while exercising their franchise. Ramps will be set up for easy access to the disable people to the polling booths. About 5400 polling booths on the first and second floor have been relocated to the ground floor to facilitate the handicapped voters.  Special efforts are being made to increase the number of handicapped voters said Mr. Shinde

This year has been declared as an easy election. Therefore special efforts were made by the Chief Electoral office for maximum number of persons with disabilities should register as voters.
Mr. Shinde appealed to handicapped people to register their name through PWD App for the coming assembly elections in the state.
