Alcohol is prohibited on the day of voting and vote counting

      Mumba(timenewsline network): The State Excise Department has given instructions that on the day of voting and counting, sale of liquor is strictly prohibited. These two days has announced dry days so that the election process should be carried out in an open and fearless environment in the state. Voting will be held on October 21 and counting will be held on October 24.
According to the relevant rules, liquor license holders must be follow dry day and should not sale alcohol during the entire voting period as long as 48 hours before the expiry of the voting period and the entire day of counting.  All concerned wholesale and retail liquor sales license holders have been advised to keep their licenses closed during this period of election and counting day.
Care must be taken that the concerned license holders shall strictly adhere to this directive. Also, if necessary, action should be taken to seal suspected license holders 48 hours before the end of the voting. During elections dry days are applicable to all wholesale, retail liquor license holders and also for one-day licenses for special events. There is no exemption for any license holder on these dry days during the elections, informed the State Excise Commissioner, Prajakta Lavangare-Verma, to all the District Collectors, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of State Excise Department.
